About
Saffron Cassaday is an award-winning filmmaker whose work explores human stories with heart and humour. Her films often centre on themes of aging, health, caregiving, intergenerational relationships, and science and technology. She has written, directed, produced, and edited three feature-length documentaries that have been licensed and broadcast by Netflix, PBS, Hulu, CBC Doc Channel, and dozens of international platforms. Her debut film, Cyber-Seniors (2014), sparked a nonprofit that pairs teenagers with seniors for technology training.
Saffron has produced four seasons of digital content supported by the TELUS Fund’s Stories for Caregivers initiative, including Sam, Dev & Ange, a comedic narrative series about a single father caring for both his teenage son and aging mother, and After Caregiving, a documentary series spotlighting the lives of former caregivers across Canada. She recently received development funding from the Independent Production Fund for Harmony Gardens, a workplace comedy set in a retirement residence. In addition, Saffron has directed and edited a number of commercial projects for corporate clients including Fujitsu and Best Buy.
